In-situ observations on timescales of decades are of critical importance in providing seasonal and long-term trend data, as well as contextualising campaign measurements. In this vast region, there are only 15 long-term stations that measure some form of aerosol parameters. All of these stations are part of the World Meteorological Organisation’s Global Atmosphere Watch programme (GAW).
